Male Vocal Groups Galešnik and Pharia

Male Vocal Group Galešnik

Having sung together since childhood at numerous festivities and growing up in Hvar, surrounded by Dalmatian songs, a group of friends decided to get serious about music and in the late 2002 they formed the a cappella group Klapa Galešnik.

In 2003 they performed at the evening of debut performers at the Festival of Dalmatian Klapa in Omiš, and ever since they have performed several times at the final evening of the most famous a capella competition.

Since then, their numerous performances have been constantly enriching the cultural life of Hvar. Their concerts have become a recognizable and essential symbol of the town of Hvar.

Their productive work resulted in their first album release in 2005. Klapa has performed throughout Croatia and regularly transmits Dalmatian cultural heritage outside the borders of our country.

The artistic director of Klapa Galešnik is Professor Tomi Domančić.

Male Vocal Group Pharia

Vocal group Klapa Pharia were formed on the island of Hvar in January 2016. The initiative came from a group of enthusiasts guided by their love for a cappella singing in company and the name they picked is the ancient Roman name for Hvar. Although Klapa Pharia is based in Brusje, its members hail from different places across the island. Their style of klapa singing is traditional a cappella, but this group also do covers of religious and popular songs and perform with instrumental accompaniment. They have given several solo concerts in Brusje so far and preformed either as organizers or guests at many other concerts and public events, most notably a book presentation for Božji hlod by a Croatian academician Jakša Fiamengo.

Also, they appear regularly at different annual festivals of klapa singing (Večer od kantonja in Stari Grad and Susret klapa otoka Hvara in Vrboska on the island of Hvar, Festival otočkih klapa in Supetar on the island of Brač).

Klapa Pharia also had an opportunity to perform abroad – in Slovenia, Germany, and Italy.
