Greenhouse Blues Band
Greenhouse Blues Band has a 15-year history and it has been one of the most interesting as well as one of the busiest club bands in the city of Zagreb and beyond. Having four members of Croatian Radio-Television’s Jazz Orchestra playing brass and woodwinds is partly the reason for this success.
Apart from the more traditional rhythm ‘n’ blues, the band also covers many other blues-related popular music genres and styles such as rock, funk, soul, new orleans, etc. They also play their own music.
Members: Lovro Šicel (electric guitar), Jurica Hotko (keyboard), Kristian Orešić (drums), Igor Flajhar (bass guitar), Antonio Geček and Zvonimir Bajević (trumpets), Oliver Ereš (tenor saxophone), and Marin Ferketin (trombone).
Since 2016 Greenhouse Blues Band has been working closely with Croatia’s iconic singer Zdenka Kovačiček. This ‘first lady of the Croatian jazz scene’ has earned this status with her interpretative talent for the genre, her sense for improvisation, and her vocal technique appropriate for jazz. Kovačiček’s stylistic affinity and way of interpreting jazz are based on the American jazz vocal tradition, swing, and preference for jazz classics.
