Hvar Choir was formed in 1947 as one of the sections of the local society for art and culture Dr. Orest Žunković, namely as the Hvar Town Mixed Choir (“Gradski mješoviti zbor”). It has been active ever since, performing at many concerts and other events across the country and abroad.

In 1997, for its 50th anniversary, the choir received the Town’s recognition for its dedicated work and contribution to cultural events in Hvar.

The choir performs regularly for the citizens of Hvar and their guests over the summer months, mainly traditional songs from Dalmatia and sacred songs. Hvar Summer Festival is only one of the festivals where their singing can be heard.

The choir is led by Professor Anna Sansović, who ensures that the island’s music tradition is preserved through mastery in choir performance.
